In October of last year, it became known that Sartorius was planning an acquisition that is now partly responsible for the company's strong figures. It was planned in October 2020 that BIA Separations, a purification specialist, would be acquired for about 360 million euros. After the takeover, the company was to be incorporated into Stedim Biotech, a subsidiary of Sartorius. The plan was to acquire the company initially in two parts. A full 240 million euros were to be paid in cash and the other 120 million euros were to be settled by shares in Sartorius-Stedim. In addition to these two payments, three tranches of earn-out payments were to be made, depending on the results, over the next five years. This deal was to be implemented in the same year so that Sartorius could start the new year stronger. Which plan worked out well, as recently became apparent.
The formerly Slovenian company BIA Separations employed around 120 people at the time and had sales of around 25 million euros in 2020. Sartorius expected a double-digit increase in sales revenue for the following year. Through the acquisition, Sartorius also hoped to increase its margins. BIA Separations was founded in 1998 and managed to quadruple its production capacity by the time of the takeover. Sartorius now wants to build on this success and seems to be on the right track. The expansion in the area of process development could have a positive effect here, as could the market-leading services. The takeover was thus already promising in October of last year and is now proving to be a good investment. Sartorius itself was able to gain around 90 percent in its share price last year and also reached a new all-time high in 2020. The figures since the end of 2010 are also remarkable.
The operating margin is also expected to improve. An increase to 32 per cent is assumed here. Once, only 28 per cent was forecast. Despite these unexpectedly good figures, many market participants had already assumed higher values than officially predicted. The experts at Bloomberg in New York were among those who had speculated much lower figures than Sartorius itself has now published. It remains to be seen whether experts will now also adjust their forecasts and what the further estimates will be. The share price reacted positively to the latest figures and rose sharply on Wednesday. At Lang & Schwarz, an increase of three percent was registered, which means a value of 400.00 euros. Investors are now eagerly awaiting whether the all-time high of 416.80 euros, from November last year, can be reached or even surpassed. Trading CFDs on Sartorius shares can currently be just as worthwhile as buying the real shares. Despite this, one should always invest cautiously.
If we look at the period from autumn 2010 to the end of 2020, we can see a gain of over 8,000 percent, which is an enormous figure. Over a 20-year period, the figure would even be 16,000 percent. It is therefore not surprising that investors are happy to invest in Sartorius shares this year as well. However, as the figures and prices rise, so does the price per share, which not all investors are able or willing to pay. But this does not mean that trading in more expensive shares has to be dispensed with. Online brokers such as download exness, for example, offer CFDs on shares as a trading instrument and do so at attractive conditions that also give beginners a good start in trading with share CFDs. Especially in economically uncertain times, CFDs can offer good opportunities due to their short-term nature.
