In the second step, you can then use the option to apply online via the provider's website to open the trading account or securities account. This is usually conveniently possible via a link that leads from the comparison website to the corresponding broker or direct bank. Once on the provider's website, you will quite quickly find a button that leads to the account opening. In a separate screen, you then only have to enter some information, especially about yourself, but also about the desired securities account or trading account. In most cases, you will also be asked for your experience in the respective investment area and with special financial products, as well as your approximate assets that you would like to invest. After all information is complete, you can usually send the account opening application to the respective provider online.
The submitted documents and information will then be checked by the broker like forex broker exness or bank and usually you will receive your access data by e-mail or in writing to log into the system in the future via the website or a special trading platform. The entire process as well as the subsequent use can be compared in principle with online banking, which you probably already know from your current account, where you can, for example, execute your bank transfers or check the account balance via the website. The same applies to a trading account with a broker and a securities account that you open with a direct bank or an online broker.
By opening a securities account, you have now created the basis for being able to trade or invest in securities at all. Now, in the third step, you have to decide on a specific financial product or, in the case of CFDs or other derivatives, on an underlying asset.
Regardless of the individual financial instrument, the underlying assets today can be divided into the following categories.
In order to make your decision easier, it is of great importance that you yourself know what the actual goal of the trade or investment should be. For example, if you want to save between 50 and 500 euros a month at regular intervals, a completely different financial product is of course recommended than if you want to invest 2,000 euros once in order to achieve high profits in a short period of time. So the first question is whether you want to save, invest for the medium to long term, or speculate. Depending on your decision, only some of the previously mentioned financial products or underlyings will then come into question.
Let's assume that you want to invest in shares over the long term in order to build up an additional private pension. In this case, there is in principle only one financial product that can fulfill this requirement, namely the share itself. CFDs or even binary options, through which you can of course also speculate on the price development of shares, are ruled out primarily because they are very speculative and therefore high-risk products that are not suitable for long-term investment. Once you have decided to invest in shares, the next step is to identify the stocks you are interested in. In any case, experts recommend diversification in this regard. This means that you do not put all your capital into just one stock or buy the shares of a single company, but rather diversify more widely. For example, it is advisable to divide a total sum of 20,000 euros among four or five stocks. Which stock you ultimately decide on depends in turn on your personal preferences, goals and the expectation of a return.
